Plasma Fibronectin in Pregnancy Induced Hypertension

Abstract
Fibronectin is a glycoprotein with molecular weight 440,000 dalton and known as marker for vascular endothelial injury. Recent works reported that plasma fibronectin as marker for vascular injury is marked elevated in pregnancy induced
hypertension
(PIH) and suggest which can be used as sensitive biochemical predictor for PIH. Study subjects include 60 pregnant women with PIH group 28 cases and 32 women were selected as control group.
There was significant different in mean plasma fibronectin level between PIH and control groups; 526.1§¶/ml in PIH and 249.5§¶/ml in control group, respectively, We set up the cut-off value at 400§¶/ml. The plasma fibronectin levels of 3 cases in
PIH
group were detected at normal range, whereaas 2 case in the control group where detected at above control group. In PIH group, there was no correlation between plasma fibronectin level and uterine artery S/D ratio.
In our study, among 28 patients with PIH abnormally elevated plasma fibronectin concentration was noted in 89.3%. To be plasma fibronectin used as the biochemical predictor of PIH, further investigation about correlation between time of onset of
increase in fibronectin and increase of blood pressure would be needed.
